Donald Doyle is President & CEO of G.E.M. Computer Consulting.  Both he and the company have worked for and maintained a well-known, reputable name in the field of Information Technology since 1990.  Initially, Donald started offering I.T. services as a "Doing Business As" (d.b.a.) company and incorporated the company in 2003.  Since the early days of upgrading memory in friends, family and colleagues PCs & Macs, G.E.M. has grown to offer a wide range of services and support and Donald strongly believes that the company can be your complete I.T. solution!

Donald's family moved from Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the east side of Indianapolis in February 1965 when Donald was at the ripe old age of six months.  Since that time, he has been an east sider all his life having gone to Lawrence Township schools graduating from Lawrence North in 1982.  After graduating, he mainly worked in the carpentry trade.  He started going to college at IUPUI in the spring of 1984.

Donald graduated from Indiana University in 1990 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Computer Endorsement (a type of minor degree for education majors).  Upon graduating, he started teaching and became the Technology Committee Chairperson in the building he taught.  While chairperson, he oversaw the installation of an Apple network in the building which was well over 100 years old.  Also, while teaching, Donald worked on fellow teachers' computers they had at their homes and started creating a name for himself as a reputable I.T. consultant.

Donald left teaching in 1995 to pursue a career in the I.T. world.  He worked in the retail computer sales business part-time while teaching and went into full-time briefly before going into corporate sales.  He was offered a contract consulting job in 1997 to work on the help desk at a major company in downtown Indianapolis.  Because of an 18-month policy regarding how long contractors could stay, he was well past the 18 months in October 1999.  The consulting firm had found him another position which only lasted one month.  He was "on the bench" for approximately a month and was laid off in December 1999.  Donald was not able find another position for six months.  Another consulting firm placed him in another large company in downtown Indianapolis in July 2000.  After 9/11, the company he was working for decided to release several contractors and once again Donald did not have a position to go to in November 2001.  He did not want to take the risk of being unemployed again, had already started building his client base and decided to go completely self-employed at that point.  Donald has not regretted that decision at all.

Why did Donald create the G.E.M. Computer Consulting? He often felt he was short changing his customers and their needs by previous employers policies or "can't do"/ "won't do" approach.  He has always wanted to Go the Extra Mile to exceed his client's needs. What drives Donald? He loves to help people and the I.T. field is the medium in which G.E.M. Computer Consulting gets to accomplish this desire.  Donald truly loves to know that G.E.M. has put clients' minds at ease and a smile on their face!
